At Newark Orchard School, our outdoor education offer is designed to help every student thrive and reach their full potential. Our grounds include a sensory garden, an outdoor classroom, and a spacious field dotted with trees, creating a calm and engaging environment for exploration. Our Post 16 students are also developing a new allotment space, adding further opportunities for hands on learning and life skills.
Through activities such as scavenger hunts, habitat creation, shelter building, tool use and cooking on an outdoor stove, students learn in ways that match their individual needs and developmental levels. Each experience is structured to build confidence, promote independence and encourage teamwork.
Outdoor education provides wide ranging benefits for our learners including improved physical health, greater emotional wellbeing, and valuable exposure to safe, manageable challenges that support resilience. By engaging with the natural world, students develop curiosity, self-belief and practical skills that extend beyond the classroom.
